Gerald ‘Gary’ T. McClemons, Sr, 80, of New Haven passed away Friday, Mar 2, 2012 at University Hospital. He was born Sept 6, 1931 in Dougherty, Iowa a son of Thomas & Gertrude Haufbauer McClemons. . Gary worked for Schneider Packaging for many years. He also worked as a mechanic and carpenter at various places before his retirement. He served with the U. S. Air Force from 1951- 1959 and was a member of the American Legion Post # 915, Central Square and the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. Gary also enjoyed gardening. He had lived in Central Square before moving to the Oswego area in 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Peggy A. Van Gilder. She died March 3, 2009.  They were married in Des Moines, Iowa in 1954.
Surviving are four daughters, Theresa McClemons and Frank Fellows, Lacona, NY, Karen & Richard Yelle, Central Square, Mary McClemons, Oswego and Gail & Glen McKenna, Brewerton, two sons, Lawrence McClemons, Mallory, Dale McClemons, Fulton, a son in law, Preston O’Neil, Central Square, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Carol Perry, Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Sharon O’Neil and two sons, Gary & William.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday from the Watson Funeral Home, Central Square, NY. Interment Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-7 at the funeral home, 631 S. Main Street.
